Your journey starts early as you drive toward the famous tidal road leading to Uzi Island, one of Zanzibar’s most untouched and remote communities. When the tide is low, you cross the sand road by vehicle; when it is high, you continue by boat. Upon arrival, you walk through local villages, interact with the island community, and learn about their fishing lifestyle.
Late in the morning, you begin a beautiful canoe ride through Uzi’s hidden mangrove channels. The water is calm, the forest is quiet, and the atmosphere feels completely untouched — a perfect place for photography and birdwatching.
Afterward, you make your way to Pete Village, where a wooden boardwalk leads deep into the mangrove forest. Here you enjoy a peaceful nature walk while observing crabs, birds, and tidal changes. The evening is free for relaxation at your hotel on the south coast.
After breakfast, you head to Makunduchi Village, known for its strong Swahili traditions and ancient rituals. You visit local homes, meet village elders, learn about herbal medicine, and explore the history of the Mwaka Koga festival. This offers a rare chance to experience authentic Zanzibar culture far away from tourist crowds.
In the afternoon, you continue to the breathtaking Mtende Beach, one of the most dramatic beaches on the island, framed by towering cliffs and turquoise water. You spend time exploring the shoreline, relaxing in the shade of palm trees, and capturing incredible photos of the natural rock formations. As the sun begins to set, the cliffs turn golden, creating one of the most beautiful views in southern Zanzibar.
After enjoying the sunset, you return to your hotel or transfer to the airport depending on your schedule.
