Your day begins with a pickup from your hotel as you travel to one of Zanzibar’s famous spice plantations. Here, local farmers guide you through the aromatic gardens, showing how spices like cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and turmeric are grown. You taste freshly picked fruits, try herbal teas, and learn about natural remedies used by Zanzibari communities. The experience ends with a live coconut-tree-climbing demonstration and a traditional spice gift to take home.
You continue your journey to Jozani Forest, Zanzibar’s oldest and most important national park. A park ranger guides you through the forest trails where you can observe the endangered red colobus monkeys up close, often jumping from tree to tree. The forest walk reveals towering mahogany trees, medicinal plants, and rich birdlife. You then visit the mangrove boardwalk where you learn how mangroves protect the coastline and support marine ecosystems. After the tour, you have time for lunch at a local restaurant (optional).
After exploring the forest, you drive toward the eastern coastline, passing small villages where daily Swahili life unfolds. You may stop to interact with locals, visit a handmade coconut rope workshop, or browse small craft stalls.
Once in Michamvi, you settle into the quiet beachfront with time to swim, relax in the shade, or simply enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
As the day comes to an end, you head to one of Zanzibar’s most beautiful sunset locations overlooking Chwaka Bay. The sky fills with warm shades of gold, orange, and purple while the calm ocean reflects the fading light. You can choose to unwind at a beach café, take photos, or walk along the soft sand. After sunset, your guide drives you back to your hotel.
